Caleb Rumley is a trombonist, arranger, and composer based out of Garfield, New Jersey. During the national quarantine of 2020 and 2021, Caleb led several remote recording projects for Big Beat Big Band, The group released a Christmas EP and collaborated with vocalist Stout and saxophonist Dave Pollack. Never one to sit at home, he found a captive livestreaming audience on Reddit and Twitch, with some streams reaching up to 150,000 views. His debut small group recording will be released in early 2022.

As an arranger and composer, he has received the 360 Jazz Initiative Composer Award and is an active member of the BMI Jazz Composer’s Workshop. He was invited to be a special guest composer for the late Diane Moser on four separate occasions. He has collaborated on arrangements with artists like Steve Turre, James Austin, and Randy Brecker. His music has been performed by several middle schools, high schools, and the William Paterson University music department.

In 2019, Big Beat released a crowdfunded full-length album that received rave reviews in the jazz press. The group has also performed with guest artists such as Peter Bernstein, Pete McGuinness, Duane Eubanks, Vanessa Rubin, Freddie Hendrix, and Rich Perry.

Caleb has performed as a trombonist with various groups in the area such as The Shady Street Show Band, Remember Jones, Wild Americans, The One More Once Big Band, the New Jersey Arranger’s Big Band, and the The Diane Moser Composer’s Big Band.

In the corporate entertainment realm, Caleb has performed with Esteem Entertainment, Red Hot Productions, Hank Lane Music, Sumar Entertainment, and the Funktion Band. He is a bandleader for Sumar Entertainment with the group 127 Wall Street. He enjoys staying active with any group that will have a trombone, let it be jazz, salsa, funk, rock, or anything inbetween!
