Caleb Rumley

Trombonist, Arranger, Composer, Educator

Caleb Rumley is a trombonist, arranger, and composer based out of Paterson, New Jersey. In 2014 he co-founded the big band Big Beat, a contemporary 19-piece big band that performs an exciting mix of RnB, soul, and jazz music. Big Beat has performed in venues across New York and New Jersey and has performed with jazz artists like Freddie Hendrix, Deena DeRose, Karrin Allyson, Duane Eubanks, and Rich Perry. As a composer, Caleb has been commissioned three years in a row for the annual Daniel Pearl Peace in Music Concert with the Diane Moser Composer's Big Band. He received the 2015 Honorable Mention for the New York Youth Symphony composer's competition, and in 2016 his piece "Knowing Ms. Bland" was selected as  a part of the 360 Jazz Initiative to be performed at a concert in Raleigh, North Carolina.  In Fall 2016 he was commissioned by the William Paterson University Music Department to arrange a multi-movement closing piece to their annual Collage Concert. Caleb's arrangement of "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit was performed by the William Paterson University Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Pop Choir, and Jazz Orchestra to create a stunning closer to the night. He continues to write original music and arrange music for school groups, professional bands, and ensembles.
